Weekly Physical Update: July 29

Updated: Jul 31, 2021

It's an unfathomably huge weekend for reissues as some fan favorites and beloved albums are once again finding their way to tapes and vinyl. Let's take a quick look at the releases we feel you should do everything you can to secure! As always, there's plenty more releases occurring that you can find on the Complete Release Archive page, so check there as well!

Track of the Week: Midnight Spa

クリスタル BEPIS - Corrupted Data Corp™ (Vinyl/Cassette)

Tiger Blood Tapes - Available Now

Tiger Blood Tapes continues their year of noteworthy reissues bringing Corrupted Data Corp's popular 2018 Vaportrap album 'クリスタル BEPIS' back to physical collectors in the form of tapes and vinyl. The album was originally released on vinyl via a Qrates campaign and on cassette through 2 self released editions on the Dead Disk Drive Bandcamp. Tiger Blood delivers yet again with a sought after repress, as 'クリスタル BEPIS' follows '夢の中で失われました' and 'Welcome to the Bathroom! 公衆トイレ' as yet another past Qrates vinyl to see the light of day again. Copies of both the vinyl and tape editions are still available now!

hotel vibes - bl00dwave (Cassette)

First Class Collective - 7/30 12pm ET

Let's keep the reissue train rolling by talking about First Class Collective and the biggest tape run in the label's history. This Friday at 12pm ET, "hotel vibes" by bl00dwave will be getting a reissue at an edition of 150 on the FCC Bandcamp. The album is a favorite amongst longtime fans and is considered by many to be an early predecessor to the large amount of funk-inspired Vaporwave we have today. The album hasn't been reissued on tape since 2017 and past releases have commanded high resale prices of anywhere from $22-48, so expect this one to go fast.

Blank Banshee 0, Blank Banshee 1, Mega & Gaia - Blank Banshee (Vinyl/Cassette)

Hologram Bay - 8/1 12pm PT

Without question, the release with the most buzz for the upcoming weekend has to be the massive drop planned by Hologram Bay. Blank Banshee's label took to Twitter to announce "Hologram Day," a day in which each of Banshee's four full length LPs will receive cassette and vinyl reissues. Currently, each album has an individual listing on the website for a tape or vinyl version, along with a vinyl bundle listing that includes 'Blank Banshee 0', 'Blank Banshee 1' and 'Mega.' It is currently unknown if there will be additional bundles posted, specifically one for the tapes and one for vinyl that includes 'Gaia.' Prices listed for each are as follows:

Single Vinyl: 30 CAD

Vinyl Bundle: 85 CAD

Single Cassette: 12 CAD

Historically, the represses these albums have gotten in the past have gone FAST, sometimes lasting for mere minutes. If you're planning to go for one of the records, be there early and be ready to race through checkout. In our own experience, tapes have lasted somewhat longer during past Hologram Bay restocks, although they still tend to sell out quicker than most Vaporwave releases on the format.

Do not mess around if you are planning to try for one of these releases. They can and will sell out in the blink of an eye.

Believe it or not, another Bandcamp Friday is right around the corner! Next Friday, August 6th marks the return of what's become a huge day in the Vaporwave Physical scene. As usual, we will be featuring a complete Bandcamp Friday Post at the beginning of next week highlighting all the various drops that will be occurring on August 6th. This will take the place of the Weekly Physical Update, and any huge non-Bandcamp Friday drops will be featured in their own Additional Physical Update Post. Look out for that Bandcamp Friday post featuring a chart to keep track of all releases to go live around Monday and expect it to update numerous times throughout the week as more announcements are made!

Until next time, hope to see you around the plaza!
